Little Man

Hello! I created this layout of my nephew Colin for a fun contest going on over at Scrappin' Patch. It is called 'Stars in their Eyes' and each week they pick a different Scrapbook 'star' and we are supposed to create a project in their style. The first weeks 'star' is Jenny Evans. I have already admired her work for quite some time now, and I think she has a very distinctive style- so it was a lot of fun to do this layout ala Jenny Evans!

If you are familiar at all with Jenny's work then you know her signature is to mat everything in black. It is a really cool look that really makes all the layers pop. But it uses a lot of cardstock (3 pieces for this one layout!) and I am stingy, lol, so I don't do it very often. But I think it looks really cool. Jenny is much better at this than I am, haha! I also used one of Jenny's sketches for this layout for the Boys Rule Kit blog. Here are some details:
Yes I used my new favorite toy: the Smash label maker. I love it!! Just wish for 2 things: more fun colors of tapes (which I'm sure will come) and I wish it had numbers. Oh well, we can't have everything *sigh*
I won this Echo Park A Boy's Life from the Paper Variety. Thank you Paper Variety! I couldn't wait to dig in and create something with it!! The sticker letters were part of the pack.
And another old favorite by Smash: the date stamp! Still love it!!

Supply List:
Cardstock: ColorBok
Patterned Paper, stickers: Echo Park (A Boy's Life)
Stamp, Label Maker: Smash by K & Co.
Cartridges: Ribbons and Rosettes (border), George & Basic Shapes (circles and stars)
Buttons: Fancy Pant Designs

In addition to the Scrappin Patch Contest I am also entering the following challenges:
Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits: Sketch

  1. Love this layout! That Echo Park paper is one of my favorites this year. The black matting really does pop everything!
