Sketches in Thyme # 94

Hello everyone! It's time for another awesome sketch over at Sketches in Thyme! Today we have a double for all of those double page fans! :) Here is the sketch we get to play with:

I know many of you have a preference for double page layouts, but me... I have always preferred the singles. Even when I have lots of pictures of the same event, I will just do multiple *single* pages. But that's just me- just a preference. With that said... I decided to turn this double pager into a single. That's what I love about sketches- how you can make them work for you, and your particular projects. Here is mine:

I got an ides to do something different for the 'circle' shape in the sketch from the patterned paper I was using. It had a whole sheet of hexagon shapes, so I decided to fussy cut some of them and arrange them in a circular pattern.

I utilized a lot of the coordinating stickers that came in the paper pack as embellishments, and to create clusters around the page.

I still love my Smash date stamp, and this little date banner provided the perfect option to add a date. As you may now, I am not a big journaler, and when I do I keep it short and sweet, sometimes just a date and age.

I LOVED the placement of the title in the sketch. For mine, I layered some letter stickers over some other strips. The chevron patterned paper was fussy cut and then popped on foam dots for dimension. I did the same with the other one below the photos. And then added some stickers.

Happy Thanksgiving for ScrapbookPal

Hi friends! I am back with another Thanksgiving layout on behalf of ScrapbookPal.com. Today I have a fun family photo with just the girls that was taken on Thanksgiving day. I wanted to do something more whimsical and fun with it, but keep the Autumn and Thanksgiving theme.

I started with some fun fall papers from Echo Park and a sketch from Page Maps for inspiration. Here are some close-ups:

I found this burlap strip/ribbon in a local store and thought it would be perfect for Halloween and Thanksgiving projects. Because of the texture and open weave I needed a really strong adhesive to keep it on the page, so I pulled out my scor tape. It worked great. I am a HUGE owl fan, a little obsessed even, so I had to utilize all the owls that came in this pack in one way or another. This little guy was a sticker, but I added some 3D foam dots for some extra dimension, then layered another sticker underneath him.

I popped up this cute wooden pennant on some foam dots as well and layered it over a  shape that I fussy cut from one of the fun papers. I use my cutter bee scissors whenever I fussy cut anything, because the tips are so fine and sharp it makes it very easy to get in intricate and small spaces. I layered a couple of smaller strips of patterned paper on the top and bottom of the page, and ran 2 of them through a border punch. I then topped them with some matching washi tape. Fall Fun for Scrapbook USA Expo

Hello my friends! I hope you enjoyed the Scrapbook USA Expo Design Team blog hop- we have some very talented ladies on our team, right?? Make sure you head over to join up with our 'thankful' linky party! Just link up any project with a 'thankful' theme and you could win a Basic Grey card kit!!
Well, today I am back to share another Fall project with you, again using the awesome DCWV Halloween and Fall stack. I hope you have been able to see how fun and versatile it is! Here is my layout:

For the background paper- I loved this subtle patterned paper, but thought it was just a little too thin to hold up all my layers, photos and embellishments on its own, so I just glued it to a heavier piece of kraft cardstock.

There were some great matching stickers and other embellishments that coordinated perfectly with these papers. I also created some of my own. For these fall leaves, I cut the shapes on my cricut on Kraft cardstock and then used Copic markers to color them in. I tried not to be even with the coloring so you could see some darker and lighter areas like you would on a real leaf. I popped one up on a foam dot to give some added dimension.

I cut the title using some paper from the stack, and some matching cardstock. I added some additional kraft leaves popped up on foam as well.

Sketches in Thyme Design Team Post!!

Hello All! I am so very excited to be able to announce that I was chosen to be a part of the talented Sketches in Thyme design team!! I have always wanted to design for a sketch challenge blog, so this is very fun for me. Sketches in Thyme has some wonderful sketches that you will LOVE! Be sure to head over and check out what the rest of the talented design team has cooked up for you and play along! Today we are working with sketch # 92 and here is my project:

 Here is the sketch I had to work with- a really fun one this week:

I used the new American Crafts Pumpkin Patch line. I have had a hard time finding good autumn/fall themed papers that I liked this year, so I was happy when I found this line. I think it went with my cute photo of my nephew Sevyn perfectly. I cut a gear shape from the Elegant Edges cart (instead of a circle) because I thought it was more 'boy'. Kept the gear theme with the smaller circle and the border. One thing that I love about American Crafts is they have those matching border strips on all of their papers. I used one over my border piece- it also covered up some background in the photo that I didn't really like :)

I used two different font cartridges (Opposites Attract and Alphalicious) along with some letter stickers from Echo Park to make my title. I like that this sketch allows for a longer title if you need one.

I had a lot of fun layering some little clusters around the page using the coordinating stickers from the line. I absolutely LOVE this burlap ticket- I need 20 more of these!

Some more layering and a better look at the border strip that I added...

My last cluster- when you have coordinating products like this it makes quick and easy work of embellishing a layout.

Thanksgiving Table for ScrapbookPal.com

I am SO super excited to be back with a creation on behalf of ScrapbookPal.com! I want to take a moment to thank the folks over at ScrapbookPal for not only being understanding when I needed to take some time due to personal issues, but for allowing me to come back and create with them again! Here is a layout I created using ScrapbookPal products:

These are some photos of my mother in law's elegant Thanksgiving Table, so I wanted to create an elegant layout to showcase them. Elegant is not always my style, so it was a little challenging but I think I am pretty happy with the result. I started with a Page Maps sketch for inspiration and added some pretty Autumn-inspired papers from SEI. I liked that they had a shimmery texture, or foil embossed designs that matched the elegance of the page. Here are some details:

One of the cool things that ScrapbookPal carries is these mist-able flowers from Petaloo. They are white in the package, and you can ink or color them however you want. I colored mine with some spray ink by October Afternoon and then added some glimmer mist to add a little sparkle. Hopefully you can see the shimmer in the picture. I loved that I could manipulate the flowers to match my layout in any way I chose, and they absorbed the ink very well.

Here are some more flowers and a rosette I created with the Ribbons and Rosettes cart. I added a fleur de lis shape and some really cool metal flowers from Basic Grey.

I tend to always go to my Cricut collection when cutting titles, but I have recently realized how nice it is to add some letter stickers in there to mix it up a bit, and it is also much more time saving. Because 'Thanksgiving' is such a long word it was easier to use small letter stickers and not take up the whole page.
