At the Fair

Hi again! I am really excited about this blog post because I have some really fun products to share with you! I posted previously about the super cool new lines from My Mind's Eye. I used some more products from those collections for this layout. I just love the bright colors and florals mixed with the weathered wood. Fun! This collection is called 'On the Bright Side'. Here's my layout:

My layout design is inspired by the current sketch challenge over at Sketches in Thyme. This is a photo of Hubby and me at the State Fair last summer. I love how the weathered wood, burlap and denim go so well with the subject matter. All the paper is from the MME collection.

I LOVE banners! I'm so glad they are still popular because I am SO not sick of them yet. I love playing with different shapes and ways to do them. These were actually pre-cut shapes that came in the 12X12 paper pack. They matched, so I decided to use them! I popped them up on foam dots for a little extra definition and added some Baker's Twine with my Zig glue pen.

Another favorite trend? Tickets! Still love these! So there is a stamp set from MME that came out with the 'On the Bright Side' Collection that has 4 different ticket images. I was so excited that I could cut out the ticket shapes and stamp the ticket image however I want to go with my project! In this example I cut the tickets on a wood grain patterned paper and then stamped in orange. Also, did you know that Becky Fleck's Pagemaps has Spellbinders dies?? Both sets are ADORABLE but I only have this one. Going to get the other one as well here pretty soon. But this one has two different ticket shapes, so again- so excited that I can cut them and adapt them to whatever project I'm working on. The solid orange ticket was also one of the pre-cut shapes.

How adorable are these burlap flowers from Prima?? I would buy 100 of these if I could. Think I'm gonna get me some burlap and learn to make these, lol!

Lastly, it's a little hard to tell in the photo, but I used a denim patterned paper to cut out the title from Makin' the Grade; and another cute burlap flower.

Supply List:
Cardstock: ColorBok
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye (On the Bright Side)
Cartridge: Makin' the Grade (title) Mother's Day Bouquet (Scalloped Circle)
Flowers: Prima

Cooking with Cricut Love Song Blog Hop- Day 1

Paper Crafting World’s Cooking With Cricut blog and check out what Melin has made!
I created a layout for my project today, and I have to say, this is probably one of my most favorite layouts that I've done in a long time. Maybe it was the subject matter :) I was inspired by Reba's Keep On Lovin' You. I was tempted to do a REALLY lovey dovey song, but then I realized it just wasn't realistic for OUR marriage. This song pretty much describes our relationship perfectly! :)

I used kraft cardstock by Bazill, American Crafts patterned paper and embellies, and Crate Paper brads. I used George to cut the circles, and one of my favorite font carts-Makin the Grade- for the title. I typed out the song lyrics that I wanted to highlight on my computer, and printed them on matching cardstock. Here is a better look:

I hope you’ll join us and link up your favorite love song inspired project at CookingWithCricut.

Cooking with Cricut Blog Hop

Welcome to Day one of PaperCraftingWorld.com and CookingWithCricut.com’s first Blog Hop of 2012! Our theme is: “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue!”

If you have arrived here from the uber talented Melin at Cooking with Cricut you’re in the right place! If you’re joining us mid-hop, head on back to see Melin and start at the beginning so you don’t miss any of the wonderful projects our talented Designers have created!

Our Designers had to use something old from their craft stash, something new (a recent purchase or new technique), something borrowed (an element from a Cricut cut or from a PaperCraftingWorld.com cutting file or digi stamp) and of course, something blue.

This was a really fun theme, I really had to think outside the box for the 'something borrowed' portion. For my project today I created a layout:
My layout sketch was inspired by a sketch by Becky Fleck in the January Page Maps release, I thought it was really fun! All the paper is from SEI, with Bazzill cardstock. I added a pop of POW glitter paper from American Crafts. I posted about this paper HERE, it is really fun! The title is cut from Makin' the Grade- one of my favorite font cartridges.
My 'Something Old' is the paper and the cardridges.
My 'Something New' is the Fiskars notebook border punch, the POW paper, the camera used to take the photos, and the printer to print them with!
The 'Something Borrowed' is the scarf on my Create a Critter puppy. It came from the Winter Frolic cart.
The 'Something Blue' is the background paper of course!
Here is a close up of my Borrowed element, as well as the journaling that explains the photos :)

I have a little blog candy to give away! It is two scrapbook idea/inspiration books (One is a copy of the Cricut Magazine idea book- I love these books, they have so many great ideas of all the amazing things you can do with your cricut!) And a Pink by Design stamp set! All you have to do to be eligible for the prize is to become a follower my blog and leave a comment below. If you would like a second chance to win you can grab my button and post it on your blog. This is not necessary to be eligible for the prize, but if you do just leave a second comment telling me you did for a second chance to win! I will announce the winner of the blog candy on my blog on Monday January 16th.

Now head on over to see Yolie at Just Yolie, Just Create and see what she’s created!
