Whimsical Designs Celebrate Spring

Welcome to another design team post for Whimsical Designs! Unfortunately I just learned this will be the last week Whimsical Designs will be hosting challenges :( Many thanks to Stephanie for all the time and energy she has put into putting together fun challenges for us. I'm sad to see it go, but I hope you will join us for our last challenge. This week we are celebrating Spring! I decided to make a card:

I love the bright fun colors on this paper from SEI. I colored the cute image with Copics and added some liquid pearls and stickles to accentuate.
The sentiment is from the Everyday Sentiments Set. I find myself using this set a LOT. I love the bright orange.
I hand cut the little banner.  Here is a copy of the set I got the sentiment from:
You can get your own set HERE. Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you will link up your beautiful spring creations- can't wait to see your inspiring projects!

I am also entering my card in the following challenges:
My Craft Spot - Scallops
Celebrate the Occasion - Celebrate Spring
Poodle's Parlour - Anything Goes

2012 Scrapbook Trend #9: Decorative Tape

Hello my friends! Today I am sharing another 2012 Scrapbook Trend project. Trend # 9 is decorative tape, aka "Washi" tape. I love this trend, and have already tried it several times. This week my project was inspired by the sketch over at ScrapFit. Here is my layout:
I used two brands of tape- the black/white polka dot is from Smash and and the other tape is from 7 Gypsies. The 7 Gypsies tape was solid black, but I thought it was too plain. So I experimented with making my own design. **Here is a tip for Top Tip Tuesday on how I created my own design on the tape:  I stamped a script background stamp onto the tape and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. The powder became pretty messy (it didn't just stick to the stamped area, it stuck to the whole surface) and it caused the image to kindof run together, but I actually liked the look so I went with it. It would be fun to experiment with different ways of making your own designs on the solid colored tape.
I also tried my We R Memory Keepers Sew Stamper. I can't say that I am the biggest fan of this one. I thought it would be a fun way to have the stitch 'look' without doing actual sewing. However, it's a little hard to keep the roller in a straight line and I wish they had a head that was a single line of "stitches" instead of the two. I actually ruined 3 pieces of cardstock before being okay with this one (Or I just didn't want to ruin any more cardstock!). Oh well, they can't all be winners! :)
I used Elegant Edges to create this sweet little border. This is still my go-to cart!!
I pulled out another favorite font cart- All Mixed Up- for the title, and then added some thickers for more interest.
So I hope I have inspired you to try these decorative tapes. The sky is the limit for what you can do with these. I wish I had more, that will definitely be on my wish list. Two Peas has TONS in so many adorable patterns and different colored solids. I think I see a Two Peas package in my future!
Be sure and come back tomorrow for the 10th and final 2012 Scrapbook Trend- Western Motifs. I struggled for a while with what to do with this one, but ended up loving my project. Can't wait to show you!!

Cooking with Cricut Blog Hop

Welcome to Day one of PaperCraftingWorld.com and CookingWithCricut.com’s first Blog Hop of 2012! Our theme is: “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue!”

If you have arrived here from the uber talented Melin at Cooking with Cricut you’re in the right place! If you’re joining us mid-hop, head on back to see Melin and start at the beginning so you don’t miss any of the wonderful projects our talented Designers have created!

Our Designers had to use something old from their craft stash, something new (a recent purchase or new technique), something borrowed (an element from a Cricut cut or from a PaperCraftingWorld.com cutting file or digi stamp) and of course, something blue.

This was a really fun theme, I really had to think outside the box for the 'something borrowed' portion. For my project today I created a layout:
My layout sketch was inspired by a sketch by Becky Fleck in the January Page Maps release, I thought it was really fun! All the paper is from SEI, with Bazzill cardstock. I added a pop of POW glitter paper from American Crafts. I posted about this paper HERE, it is really fun! The title is cut from Makin' the Grade- one of my favorite font cartridges.
My 'Something Old' is the paper and the cardridges.
My 'Something New' is the Fiskars notebook border punch, the POW paper, the camera used to take the photos, and the printer to print them with!
The 'Something Borrowed' is the scarf on my Create a Critter puppy. It came from the Winter Frolic cart.
The 'Something Blue' is the background paper of course!
Here is a close up of my Borrowed element, as well as the journaling that explains the photos :)

I have a little blog candy to give away! It is two scrapbook idea/inspiration books (One is a copy of the Cricut Magazine idea book- I love these books, they have so many great ideas of all the amazing things you can do with your cricut!) And a Pink by Design stamp set! All you have to do to be eligible for the prize is to become a follower my blog and leave a comment below. If you would like a second chance to win you can grab my button and post it on your blog. This is not necessary to be eligible for the prize, but if you do just leave a second comment telling me you did for a second chance to win! I will announce the winner of the blog candy on my blog on Monday January 16th.

Now head on over to see Yolie at Just Yolie, Just Create and see what she’s created!

All I Want for Christmas...

Okay, so this is my last Christmas project (gotta save some photos for next year, lol!) I was messing around with the settings on my new camera and ended up with this photo. I don't usually like photos of myself but I actually liked this one so I decided to make a layout with it. I used a sketch from 4 Crafty Chicks from their New Year Blog hop for this project. It also doubles as an application to be a guest designer for them so wish me luck!
Here is my layout:
All the paper is from SEI. The brads are Basic Grey, the ribbon and border punch are American Crafts and the title is cut from Winter Frolic. The Christmas trees were fussy cut from an SEI patterned paper. Here is the sketch I used:
I hope you like my interpretation! I am entering this project in the following challenges:

4 Crafty Chicks - Sketch
For Fun Challenges - Something New (the ribbon, border punch, cartridge and camera!)

Thankful Card

If you are looking for the Robin's Creative Cottage Stamp Release Celebration Blog Hop post click HERE.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I recently purchased the Elegant Edges Cart and I just know it is going to be my new go-to cart, LOL! I used it for the background on this card, and I used the Thanksgiving seasonal cart for that pretty turkey with flourish and the "thankful" sentiment.  On the cart it is actually 'Thankful heart' but it didn't all quite fit on my card, LOL. All the paper is from the SEI Moonrise collection- I love this line for Thanksgiving- very elegant colors and patterns. Here is the card:
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog- Red, Orange and Brown
The Paper Variety-Use the word 'thanks' or 'thankful'

Easel Card

If you are looking for the Robin's Creative Cottage Stamp Release Celebration Blog Hop post click HERE!

Hello! I am so excited to finally be able to start participating in challenges again after my move and car accident injury! I have really missed doing all the fun challenges out there!! One thing I missed is those challenges that get you to learn and try new techniques. That was the case with the challenge over at My Craft Spot this week- Easel Card.  I have never made an easel card, but have been very interested in learning new card techniques.  They had a link to a great instructional video on their challenge post and it was very fun and easy! I am also entering the card in the challenge at Frosted Designs this week which was to use die cuts!
Here is my card:
And here is the side view:
All the paper is from SEI's Glitzmas collection (really love this paper collection- I've used it for 4 projects this week alone, lol). I just recently got the Elegant Edges cartridge, so I was very excited to break that one out! I used it for the border. I cut the tree with Winter Woodland, and added some Glossy enamel for the snow. The stamp sentiment is, of course, from Robin's Creative Cottage.  Here is a close up of my winter tree:
I hope you enjoyed my project and thanks for stopping by!!

Cooking With Cricut challenge #60 Let's Talk Turkey

Hi guys! It's time for another challenge over at Cooking with Cricut!  It is SO great to be back in my craft room- I had to skip last week's challenge due to my injury, and I was very bummed, so I am so happy to be back!
This week our challenge was to incorporate our favorite November bird into our project. Here is mine:

I love Thanksgiving, so I took this pic of my hubby with our Thanksgiving turkey to creat this layout. I wanted to make it a little more elegant :) so I used these pretty papers from S.E.I.'s Moonrise collection. (S.E.I. always has a great booth at my local Scrapbook Expo and I stocked up on their holiday lines this year, so you will probably be seeing alot of them to come, lol). The title paper was from Bella Blvd.'s Finally Fall collection, and is cut from Sophisticated, as is the shape from the background paper. This is a really fun cart! Mr. Turkey is cut from Stretch your Imagination. I popped up his wing and added some Stickles to sparkle him up a bit!
I added some buttons and brads from my collection and voila! I hope you like it, I had a great time making it and have a few more projects coming this week.  Also, don't forget to join us for the 25 Days of Christmas Crafting Fun starting December 1st. LOADS of great projects, ideas and inspiration and GIVEAWAYS! (we all love those, right??) Thanks for looking, and can't wait to see what you all cook up this week!!

Robin's Creative Cottage Stamp Release Party!

Oh my gosh, what a week! Thanks y'all for your patience while I recuperated! Well, I promised some fun things coming up this week, so without further adieu... :)
This week we are celebrating the release of the new stamps from Robin's Creative Cottage. Let me tell you, these stamps are AWESOME. Very high quality, clean stamp image, and SO cute!! I am so excited to finally be able to show you the stamps, and the projects I've created with them! Also, don't forget to join us on Friday for the Stamp Release Celebration Blog Hop! Lots of great inspiration, AND every design team member has a full set of stamps to GIVE AWAY! You don't want to miss it!
For today I am working with the Snowman's Prayer stamp set.  I made this fun snowflake card.

The card size is 4x6 and all the paper was from S.E.I.'s Silver Valley collection. The snowflake 'brads' are actually eyelets from Eyelet Outlet.  The title was stamped with Color Box ink and popped up on glue dots to stand out a bit more.  Here is a close up of the CUTE stamp!

The snowflakes were cut from Joys of the Season at 2 1/2". I inked the edges for definition with Tim Holtz ink, and then stamped the mini snowflake stamp from the collection. Here is some detail:
I really hope you liked my card, and want to head over to Robin's Creative Cottage to see all the amazing projects from our super talented design team. And make sure to come back on Thursday when I will be showcasing the Gingerbread Holiday set, and don't forget the Blog Hop on Friday, with a chance to win a set of these great stamps!!
