There is actually a bit of a story behind the making of this card: I was talking with a co-worker about how I had seen a card making idea book that showed cards made for random 'holidays' (think Talk like a Pirate day, or I love cheese day, etc.). We were joking about what you would do with a 'Talk like a Pirate day' card- like, who do you give that to? So I decided to make her a card for a random holiday- I chose International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day which is February 23rd. I did not include a dog biscuit on my card- I was going to, but it ended up not fitting in with the look I was going for. I did, however, include a DOG- a sweet image from Meljens- and he sure does look happy, right!
All the paper is from Tim Holtz Shabby Chic stack. I love the washed-out look of it. I used a MS border punch and hand cut the banner flags. For the sentiment (Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day is going inside!) I used this cute 'Puppy Love' sentiment from Whimsical Designs 'With Love' set. (I love this stamp set for any 'love' occasions, a lot of great sentiments for Valentine's Day, Anniversaries, or 'just because'. You can buy it HERE) I stamped the sentiment on vellum and then cut it out with a spellbinders die. I liked the more washed out look it gave that went with the rest of the card.
Here is a better look at that sweet Meljens image, colored with copics. I added stickles to the butterfly 'trails'.
I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Meljen's - pastels
Little Darlings- favorite embellishements (mine are banners and stickles!)
Paper Sundaes - cream, blue, distressing and/or pearls (I used cream for card base, blue patterned paper, and distress inked all the cuts)
Frosted Designs - Use the word 'love'
