Practical Scrappers DT Post: Clouds

Hello my friends! Welcome to my second design team post for Practical Scrappers! This week we are playing with clouds on our projects! I love the look of clouds on layouts and was excited to play with this theme. Here is my layout:

 

I used an awesome sketch from Rochelle Spears for this layout and I had a lot of fun with it. In the sketch she showed a ring of stitching. I decided to try my hand at masking for mine. I cut a circular image from Accent Essentials (I thought it slightly resembled a sun and would work well with my summer-y layout), then I used the negative image as a mask with yellow smooch spray. The paper is from the My Mind's Eye collections. I am getting a lot of mileage out of these, lol! Now onto my clouds:

I used a chevron print patterned paper and then embossed the clouds with a swirl pattern.

I decided to try my hand at the new confetti trend to add a little emphasis around the clouds. I'm not sure if I was successful or not, ha! I used the 'leftovers' from my border punch.

Aren't these wood tile letters just the cutest?? I took these from the Echo Park This & That- Graceful pack, then added some Cricut cut letters from Songbird.

I cut a square of this notebook lined paper is from the Follow your Dreams line to make a journaling spot. I punched it with a notebook edge punch and then roughed it up a bit. 4 Crafty Chicks # 85: Fabric

Hello friends! I am back today with another guest designer post for 4 Crafty Chicks. This week we are working with fabric, and ribbon doesn't count! I must be honest, this challenge was a CHALLENGE for me. I have seen others work with fabric beautifully, but I have never worked with it before and was really at a loss for how I was going to incorporate it into my layout. So I went to the fabric store and browsed around waiting for inspiration to strike. When I saw some brightly colored tulle I thought of a few different things I could do with it. It was definitely fun to try something new! Here is my layout:

 

Another photo of one of my nieces, this time it's Evie. I took these photos last summer, and they have just been waiting to make it onto a page. More My Mind's Eye goodness on this layout, and some American Crafts thrown in as well. I used an awesome sketch from Let's Capture These Sketches. Really loved this sketch. Now onto the fabric:

I used Glubers to make the flowers.  If you are unfamiliar with Glubers, it is a large, flat adhesive disk that you can use to create embellishments. They come in different sizes, and the manufacturer is Cosmo Cricket. You can purchase them at ScrapbookPal for $4.19 HERE. Not much technique to share as I pretty much took a strip of the tulle and then pleated and pressed in a very haphazard manner until I had a look that I liked. I really like the look of these on the overall page as they look so filmy and soft, but still add a pop of color.

I found these little tags in my stash and thought it looked cute on the picture of Evie with her huge smile. The washi tape is from Queen and Co.

I used Printing Press and Type Candy for my title, and added some boutique brads scattered around the page.

Cooking with Cricut # 81: Girl/Teen Girl Thinking of You

Hello my friends and welcome to another Wednesday challenge at Cooking with Cricut. We have a special theme this week. We are making cards to send to two very special girls who are going through a pretty rough time. Patty is the daughter of a friend of one of our designers. She is 13 and fighting a rare form of cancer. Emily is a 6 year old fighting leukemia, and is this month's recipient for Madison's Feel the Love project. We are making cards/projects to send them a little cheer. Here are my cards:

 

When I saw this theme I immediately wanted to pull out my Rock Princess cart. I think it is so girlie and fun, but still has that rocker edge. I kept with a pink and black color scheme as it fits so perfectly with the images. Here are the individual cards:

 

For the most part they are the same, but I did change one image so they had a little difference. On this one I used the cute skullie with the big bow, and the kitty rocking the headphones in the other:

 

I inked the edges of the card and the patterned paper mat with black ink for a little definition and edge. I wanted to add a little 'you rock' sentiment to the interior, so I used a stamp from Whimsical Designs:

I accentuated the raindrops with Liquid Pearls, and added some stickles glitter for accents on the girl's hairbows and her kitty's collar.

Easter Blessings Card

Hi everybody! I have some exciting news! I have been chosen to be a part of the new design team for ScrapbookPal.com! If you are not familiar with ScrapbookPal you should definitely check it out. Not only is it an online scrapbook supply superstore but nothing is full price. It's a great way to stock up on all those supplies without breaking the bank. Most all of the supplies I used for this project I got from ScrapbookPal at a fraction of the price I have paid at other online stores. Now to my project! As Easter is tomorrow, I wanted to share an Easter card with you!

This is a 6"x6" card. The mat with the border edge is cut from Elegant Edges with the book feature. This is a great feature to add fun border to cards, or to create mini-books. The paper was pretty busy so I kept it simple. I used Spellbinder's dies to cut out the stamp and the scallop circle behind it.

I added some pretty stickles to give it a little sparkle and definition, and some liquid pearls to the center of some of the flowers. The image from Meljens is colored with copics.

I then added a pretty shimmery ribbon from American Crafts. Scor Tape is an excellent way to adhere ribbon- I love this stuff! I glued the bow down with a craft dot. I used a cute stamp sentiment from Pink by Design and heat embossed it, then cut a tag out with another Spellbinders die. 4 Crafty Chicks Guest Designer Post

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be back guest designing for 4 Crafty Chicks! I will be joining them again for the month of April. For my first challenge back our theme is flowers. We all love our flowers, so I hope you will come and play along! For my project I created a layout.

I'm still loving the new lines from My Mind's Eye- I used a couple of them for this project. So much fun to work with! I used a sketch design from Artful Delight. This is an Instagram photo of my big guy Cash.

Because the challenge focus is flowers I decided to make my own. I cut some different shaped flowers from the Mother's Day Bouquet cart from different patterned papers. I layered them and curled the edges with a petal roller and then added a button or brad.

I liked the simplicity of Doodletype for the title. This is the shadow feature. I was going to layer a lighter color over it, but ended up liking the solid black.

I'm still loving my Smash date stamp. I want to use it on everything!! I hope you have enjoyed my layout, and will come and join us with your gorgeous flower creations!

FIRST Design Team Post for Practical Scrappers!

Hi everyone! I am thrilled to announce that I have been chosen as a Fresh Face Designer for Practical Scrappers! I am really excited about this because any of you familiar with my blog know that I am primarily a layout designer and Practical Scrappers really caters to this! Yay! But don't worry- they also have plenty of card inspiration, as well as many other types of projects. It's a really great resource for ideas and inspiration and I am truly honored to have been chosen to design for them! So for my first project we are featuring unique ways to use Baker's Twine. I love working with Baker's Twine and actually had a hard time picking just one use. I ultimately decided to highlight the letters in my title with the twine. Here is the project:

 

I thought I would try to get in at least one Easter layout before it passed us by! These are photos of my beautiful niece Emma in her pretty pink Easter dress last Easter. All the paper is from the Echo Park This & That- Graceful collection. I also used a lot of the stickers that came in the pack. I used a sketch design from Sketchabilities. Here is my title with the Baker's Twine:

For the capital letter 'E' I outlined with the twine, then I wrapped the twine around the rest of the letters, securing with adhesive from my Zig glue pen. You can use the outlining technique for all sorts of different things: any shapes or die cuts, you can make frames, outline etc. The sky's the limit!

The stickers that were part of the collection were just too cute not to add to my page. I inked the edges of the papers with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

I especially like the ruler borders.
