Face Paint for Sketches in Thyme

Hello folks! I have a layout to share with you today for Sketches in Thyme. This week we have another awesome double page layout to share with you. I know many of you love the double pagers. Personally, I prefer the single page, so I just converted it to a single page. Easy peasy!! Here is my layout:

How cute is my niece Emma!! She was so stoked to get the cute turtle painted on her face. She is totally at the age now where she loves to mug for the camera. This is totally beneficial to her aunt the scrapbooker, aka the "paparazzi".  I used Crate Paper's conveniently titled "Emma's Shoppe".  LOVE this collection, has a really cool vintage vibe, with a toy shoppe theme that is perfect for little girls. Here are some details:

I layered some fun stickers and cutouts in a cluster for embellishment. I popped some of them up on foam dots for extra dimension. I utilized some of the stickers for journaling as well. I am not big on journaling, usually just a simple name, date and location is all I need.

These thickers have a fuzzy/velvet finish. It's hard to see in the photo, but I like the texture it adds to the layout.

HOPEful for Sketches in Thyme

Hello my friends! I have another layout to share with you today, based off another awesome sketch over at Sketches in Thyme! This week we are on sketch #98- and it's a really good one!

Here is my layout:

This layout was very personal for me, and I actually got emotional while creating it. Which only served to remind me how meaningful it is, this hobby of ours. It is so much more than just an expensive way to pass time. I think it's important to document your life- both the good AND the bad, and even the ugly. On this page I am documenting a hopeful outlook during a very tumultuous time. My life may have been far from perfect, but I tried to always look for the positive. I have a number of photos of myself representing different aspects of this difficult time that I am looking forward to scrapping. This was the first one!

Here are some additional details about the project:

This was a very deliberate 'correction' on this cute sticker. I was trying to make the point that there is no longer an 'our' but I still have a story worth telling. All of the paper and stickers are from the amazing Dear Lizzy Fifth and Frolic line. Really really beautiful. I simply love her!!

How cute is this sticker?! Another cool thing about these- I'm not sure if this was deliberate or not, but these 'stickers' had very little STICK to them. I thought this was actually pretty cool, because if you want the option of using dimensional adhesive you don't have to un-stick them first.

Apparantly gold is all the rage these days. I wasn't always a fan, but I am really liking it now!

Lastly a close up of my journaling. For those of you familiar with my work I am not a big 'journaler'. Maybe a name, location and a date at the most. But some pages just call for it and this was one of them. I kept it a little vague, but you get the general idea.

A Very Merry Christmas for Sketches in Thyme #97

Hello my friends! Today I have a project to share with you for Sketches in Thyme! This weeks fun sketch is another double pager, but I condensed it into a single page. Here is the awesome sketch I got to play with:

Playing again with the SUPER fun Winter Wonderland Collection from My Mind's Eye. I have already gotten 3 layouts out of this pack, and I lOVE it.

The circles had been cut out for a previous project, but I really liked the look so I decided to recycle it! I topped them with some chipboard stickers that coordinated with the papers.

I used another chipboard sticker for my title, and added a cute journaling block behind it. I love time saving elements, like when you can find your title in a coordinating chipboard or sticker set.

I added a whole bunch of fun brads and chipboard in the upper left to embellish further.

Disney Dreams for Sketches in Thyme

Hello my bloggy friends! Please forgive me for posting this so late- should have been done on December 6th, but this has been a CA-razy week to say the least. Got a new job, AND an amazing new opportunity to work with DCWV as a designer. More on that later! But I did want to share the layout I created with the current sketch over at Sketches in Thyme! I actually really love this layout, and it's been done for a couple weeks now, but we've had a lot of grey days so I didn't have light to photograph it and it got pushed aside with everything else I've had going on. Well... better late than never right!!
Without further adieu, here is the current sketch- #95 - that I had to work with:

I wasn't actually on this trip to Disneyland with my adorable nieces, but the photos turned out so cute I just had to scrap a few of them. They are both such princesses, and meeting some 'real live' princesses was a dream come true for both of them.

I love buying paper collections in packs or kits- especially when they have coordinating stickers. Makes my layout very quick and easy.

The title was also done with coordinating letter stickers. These are my new go-to product. Saves so much time from cutting out and adhering each letter individually.

Sketches in Thyme # 94

Hello everyone! It's time for another awesome sketch over at Sketches in Thyme! Today we have a double for all of those double page fans! :) Here is the sketch we get to play with:

I know many of you have a preference for double page layouts, but me... I have always preferred the singles. Even when I have lots of pictures of the same event, I will just do multiple *single* pages. But that's just me- just a preference. With that said... I decided to turn this double pager into a single. That's what I love about sketches- how you can make them work for you, and your particular projects. Here is mine:

I got an ides to do something different for the 'circle' shape in the sketch from the patterned paper I was using. It had a whole sheet of hexagon shapes, so I decided to fussy cut some of them and arrange them in a circular pattern.

I utilized a lot of the coordinating stickers that came in the paper pack as embellishments, and to create clusters around the page.

I still love my Smash date stamp, and this little date banner provided the perfect option to add a date. As you may now, I am not a big journaler, and when I do I keep it short and sweet, sometimes just a date and age.

I LOVED the placement of the title in the sketch. For mine, I layered some letter stickers over some other strips. The chevron patterned paper was fussy cut and then popped on foam dots for dimension. I did the same with the other one below the photos. And then added some stickers.

Sketches in Thyme Design Team Post!!

Hello All! I am so very excited to be able to announce that I was chosen to be a part of the talented Sketches in Thyme design team!! I have always wanted to design for a sketch challenge blog, so this is very fun for me. Sketches in Thyme has some wonderful sketches that you will LOVE! Be sure to head over and check out what the rest of the talented design team has cooked up for you and play along! Today we are working with sketch # 92 and here is my project:

 Here is the sketch I had to work with- a really fun one this week:

I used the new American Crafts Pumpkin Patch line. I have had a hard time finding good autumn/fall themed papers that I liked this year, so I was happy when I found this line. I think it went with my cute photo of my nephew Sevyn perfectly. I cut a gear shape from the Elegant Edges cart (instead of a circle) because I thought it was more 'boy'. Kept the gear theme with the smaller circle and the border. One thing that I love about American Crafts is they have those matching border strips on all of their papers. I used one over my border piece- it also covered up some background in the photo that I didn't really like :)

I used two different font cartridges (Opposites Attract and Alphalicious) along with some letter stickers from Echo Park to make my title. I like that this sketch allows for a longer title if you need one.

I had a lot of fun layering some little clusters around the page using the coordinating stickers from the line. I absolutely LOVE this burlap ticket- I need 20 more of these!

Some more layering and a better look at the border strip that I added...

My last cluster- when you have coordinating products like this it makes quick and easy work of embellishing a layout.

And I'm Back....

Hello my friends! I am back with a project as promised, and boy does it feel good to be creating again! It's easy to lose sight of how much something means to you, fulfills you or just plain makes you happy until you lose it for a while. So it feels AMAZING to be creating again. I definitely was a little worried that I might have lost my mojo, and I struggled a little with this project, but overall I was happy about it. Didn't hurt that I was doing a layout about Halloween- my favorite holiday.

My project today doubles as an entry to be on the design team for Sketches in Thyme. I have been following this blog for a while. They have some really fun sketches and I love creating from sketches. Here is the sketch I had to work with:

My project is doubling as an entry into the Carta Bella Project contest, so all the supplies are from the Carta Bella All Hallows Eve collection. Here are a few close-ups of my project:

Most of the embellishments are either stickers, or fussy cut from patterned paper from the collection.

Alot of fun images in this collection- I love it!!

I added a little border- don't think I can make a page without something on the edge, lol

Lastly I added some gems for some added interest on this border piece.
