Pile it On # 22: More than 2 folds

Hello friends! And welcome to another fun Pile it On challenge! This week we are making cards/projects with more than 2 folds, and our sponsor is Digi Doodle Shop! They were gracious enough to let me use this ADORABLE owl image for my project this week. You may not know this but I am a little obsessed with owls :) I just recently found out there is an Owl Garden sanctuary not far from me so I am heading there Monday-SO excited!! Expect to see some owl projects in the near future! LOL! But back to my project... cards of any kind are definitely not my forte, so I kept my multi fold project easy with a simple easel card. Here it is:

This started off with the intention of being a Father's Day card, but I ended up taking it in a different direction. All the paper is from American Crafts- their 'Chap' line. The image of course is from Digi Doodle shop. Here is a closer look at the front of the card (sorry for the off centered photo- the card just wouldn't lay down for me to take a good pic!)

The newspaper print strip- which is a little hard to see in the photo- is actually a print from the Imagine Vintage Papers cart. I then punched the edge and added some ribbon. The owl is colored with Copics, and popped up on foam dots for added dimension. The moon and stars are also popped up. I also inked all the edges with some distress ink. Here is the interior:

Pile It On # 21: Mix Your Scales

Hello bloggy friends! It's time for another fun Pile it On challenge! This week we are challenging you to mix your scales. This week our sponsor is Jelly Park and one lucky winner will get 3 digis! Awesome!! So if you are not familiar with what 'mix your scales' means, you basically are mixing a large scale pattern (like a large floral print) with a small scale pattern (like polka dots). Here is my card:

My card was inspired by this week's sketch challenge at The City Crafter.  For my large scale I used the large floral pattern on the circle, and my small scale are the polka dot background paper and washi tape.I used an adorable Jelly Park image and added some color with copics, and then enhanced with glitter. I used Spellbinders dies to cut the rectangle image mats and the sentiment pennant. Here is a closer look at the image:

For the sentiment I added some flowers, and used some washi tape to make another pleated flower for the center and then topped with a button. I stamped my sentiment on a pennant that I cut from a Spellbinders die. All of the paper I used is from American Crafts.

Pile it On # 19: Fairytales, Fantasy & Daydreams

I thought the image was just adorable. Just pretend you don't notice my sub-par coloring- still learning!! ;) My card was inspired by this week's sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday. I flipped a part of it to vertical, but other than that I stayed pretty true to the sketch.

 I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder with script. Love this one!

Here is a closer look at the cute Stamp Fairy digi. Again... still learning. ;)

I probably wouldn't have added the tulle if not for the Text and Tulle challenge at the City Crafter, but I really love how it turned out!

I used one of the new Page Maps spellbinders dies (love these!) to cut out this tab, and a stamp from Pink by Design.

Pile it On # 17: Sparkle and Shine

Hello my friends and welcome to another Pile it On challenge!! This week we want to see your Sparkle and Shine! Our sponsor is Some Odd Girl and the winner will get their choice of 3 digis! Woot! 

Oh boy, did I have some challenges getting this card made! Usually I like to have my projects done way ahead of time to account for things like this, but with Pile it On I can only work a few days ahead so I know what challenges to incorporate into my project. So this past Thursday I was going to start coloring my image but my printer was out of ink. Over the next 2 days I had it refilled, only to find it wasn't refillable, got a recycled ink cartridge only to find out my printer will not accept them. 6 stores later I finally got ink in my printer 1 hour before my card was due! Whew! ANYway, on to my card :)

 

When I was browsing the Some Odd Girl store for an image I noticed they had a collection called "Mae". I am a "May" so I thought I would check it out. Then I found this image called "Alice Mae"- that was my Grandma's name! I just had to buy her!! I used a sketch from this week's Simon Says Stamp. I matted all my layers in black for a little pop, and added a cute banner ribbon.

Here is a better look at the sweet Alice Mae image, colored with Copics. I fussy cut her out, and then popped her up on some foam adhesive to make her stand out a little more.

Our theme this week is 'Sparkle and Shine' so I used a LOT of stickles on this card- I used some pink to outline this little sentiment flag, some green stickles for her bow, and some diamond stickles to highlight some of the hexagons and the rosette.

I just cut a 1 1/2" x 12" strip of paper and ran it through a border punch to make this rosette. I added a button with a twine bow on top. Here is my tip for Top Tip Tuesday: The absolutely best adhesive to use when making a rosette is hot glue. I have tried many others and nothing holds it together like hot glue!!

I added an additional sentiment stamp on the interior of the card, as well as another strip of coordinating paper ran through a border punch. I hope you liked my card, please come join us with your own sparkly creations! Thanks for stopping by!!

I accentuated the raindrops with Liquid Pearls, and added some stickles glitter for accents on the girl's hairbows and her kitty's collar.

My card was inspired by the current challenge sketch over at Mojo Mondays. When I saw what our challenge was for this week I found this cute little Shamrock stamp at Bugaboo and thought it would be perfect.

I also got a new stamp set from Pink by Design for St. Patrick's Day. It's called Luck o' the Irish. I'm still relatively new to stamping (digital and clear) and it is definitely NOT my strong suit. But I recently got one of those Fiskars stamp presses, and OMG such a difference!! It's the little things, folks! ;)

Pile It On Challenge # 09 - Make it a Fun Fold

Welcome to another challenge at Pile it On! This week we are making cards with a fun or 'fancy' fold (think gate folds, easel cards, step cards, etc.). This week our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp! I made a gate fold card with this adorable digi from A Day for Daisies:

The sentiment is from Whimsical Designs 'Whimsical Fun Vol. 1' set. I used Elegant Edges to cut out the Stamp-shaped mat for the Sentiment stamp, and inked the edges with chalk ink. Then I added some liquid pearls for a little extra somethin'. I think I am addicted to this stuff, lol!

I found these adorable flower shaped buttons in my stash, and added some bakers twine.

This week my sketch was inspired by the challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas. I think it is really versatile, but I opted to keep it more clean and simple.

To keep with the 'heartfelt' theme, I added this cute felt heart accent from American Crafts- perfect, right? My mat shape is cut from Elegant Edges. Here are some more closeups:

Pile It On Challenge # 05- Just Because

Hello everyone and welcome to a new challenge from Pile it On! This week our sponsor is Stamp n Doodle. The winner will receive 2 images of their choice! Our theme this week is 'Just Because', so please come join us with your 'Just Because' cards and link up with all those challenges!
I have to admit that this week was a bit of a stretch for me, a little outside of my comfort zone, but that is why I love challenges because they DO stretch you and you become a better crafter because of it, and I actually like how this card turned out.

I used the pretty bird image from Stamp n Doodle. I am not super familiar with bird species, but seeing as it is winter I went with a cardinal type of bird. Somewhere along the way of creating this card it became more of a masculine style, lol, but that is actually good because masculine cards are always scarce in my stockpile. The sketch inspiration was from this weeks challenge at Top Tip Tuesday.(**Here is my tip: when you are working with small die cut pieces like the birds on the banner, I usually run them through my mini-Xyron. It is just an easier way to get adhesive on the entire piece. If they are ultra-tiny (like the dots on i's or super small layers) I use my Zig glue pen.) This banner was cut from Rock Princess- I liked how the birds on it continued the bird theme in the card and then I ran it through my Cuttlebug. I thought this folder had a woodsy feel to it that fit with the rest of the card as well.

Pile It On Challenge #01 Anything Goes

Hello all! I am so excited to be posting my very FIRST project for Pile It On!! This challenge blog is awesome because it encourages you to enter your projects in as many challenge blogs as you can. That means more chances to win prizes, get featured, more traffic to your blog, etc. etc. So please come and play along with us! This week our challenge is...Anything goes! I had a lot of fun with  my project this week. I got some NEW copics for Christmas and have been going crazy learning the techniques and playing with digital stamping. For this project I used a digital stamp from Dilly Beans. Here is my project:

The paper is from Fancy Pants Winterland Collection. I used a border punch from American Crafts and the following Cricut cartridges: George and Basic Shapes (Circles), Joys of the Season (Snowflakes) and Winter Frolic (title). Here is a close-up of the title:

I used an American Crafts Galaxy pen to highlight some of the words. Here is my Dilly Beans Snow mamma stamp (remember, I am still learning the Copics, lol!)

It's a little hard to see in the pic, but I also added some stickles around her 'trim' to give a little more sparkle! :)
